Keep in mind that 1) I hate to wax my car and 2) my brother raved about how easy the Ice liquid worked. Ice paste wax gives an icy beautiful shine, does not haze or ruin the black rubber/plastic on the car, and is the same hard work of traditional waxes.

while it is easier to use than other waxes it is not as simple as the advertisements make it look. it does take half the time to get the gloss of other waxes, other waxes would take atleast two coats to be as glossy as ICE paste.

Also be sure to use it only when the temperature is above 55 degrees or the wax will leave a oily residue on your car. Ice actually does work better in the sun when the surface temperature of the car is high, which makes it perfect in the hot texas sun

if it is above 55 degrees and you have an oily residue on your car you might need to clean off the microfiber towel because it is saturated with the wax.

The ice liquid clay bar is also glossy, but the gloss only last a week or two before you need to re apply it. the paste typically lasts 4-5 weeks for a glossy shine

I also highly reccomend the ICE car wash solution, it is very very soapy and leaves the car feeling smooth even without a wax

i rated it a 4 out of 5 only because it is not as easy as teh commercials make it seem, it is still a car wax and takes the same amount of time to apply a coat of wax as any other product

This product is extremely easy to apply. It's also easy to wipe off, so long as you don't let it bake in direct sun for too long. If you mess up, spritz a little detailing spray over the Ice and it wipes right off. The appearance of the product while on your paint is very subtle. It does not dry to a white powder, so you do not have to be as meticulous around body panel seams. If you accidentaly leave a little residue around a make, model, or log badge it won't look too bad. You'll be the only one to notice.

You can also apply Ice to plastic trim on the outside of your car, and to alloy wheels for additional dirt repellance and shine. This potentially eliminates 2 more products that you keep to maintain your car's appearance (probably 4 or more, because we try several products before we find ones we really like).

The end result is an extremely deep, reflective shine if you start with a good paint surface. Consider a clay bar if you have sap, oxidation, etc. that make your paint rough to the touch for optimum results. It's well worth the extra work 1-2 times per year.

The only reason that Ice Paste didn't get 5 stars from me is because the shine is not as durable as Turtle Wax claims. Optimum shine only exists for about a week and it quickly deteriorates after that. I base this judgement off of the declining ability of the surface to create tight water beads. The time saved in applying the product is lost if you have to apply Ice more often than another product.

You can cure this problem by following up with a good quality, durable wax. This two step process gives you a better shine than wax alone, and greatly improved finish life. For me, this technique gives about 3 months of protection before I want to redo everything again. If you are a frequent waxer, you might be able to go much longer between Ice applications since you are more frequently repairing the harder, top surface.

  4. Review by Eric Fontaine for Turtle Wax T-465 8 Oz Ice Polish Paste
I purchased this product in part due to a verbal recommendation from my local auto parts store. After using a clar bar to thoroughly clean the clear coat on my two black cars, I got on with the waxing. I haven't seen the commercials as other reviewers have noted, so I can't speak to how easy to use it is compared to how they sell it in the commercials. My focus for buying this product was to get something focused strictly on shine and gloss. The clar bar treatment got the clear coat super-smooth and clean, so a cleaner wax wasn't needed and I wanted more gloss and shine. This product was marketed clearly as a gloss and shine wax, with little focus on being a cleaner.

If you haven't used a clay bar system to get your clear coat super-glass smooth, I highly recommend that first. I used Mother's brand, but Turtle Wax Ice makes a similar product system. Rub your fingers across your paint - if it doesn't feel ultra smooth (like a really clean windsheild), then go for the clay bar first and get your clear coat super clean - your wax job will go easier and you'll get much better results. Your needn't do the clar bar thing before every wax - this is the first time I have used that and my cars are 2-3 years old, but it made a huge difference worth telling others about. ANYWAY...

Overall, this product has a couple of key advantages over the traditional paste or liquid wax. First, you can use it on just about everything - just avoid the glass and plastic headlight lenses and everything else it works well on - black bumpers, window and door trim, and so on. It shines them up fine. As others note, it doesn't produce near the amount of white powder, so I wasn able to liberally use this around all trim, side mouldings, badges, windsheild washer sprayers, and other bits without worry. Everything cleaned off nicely.

The instructions say you can use this product in full sun and you don't have the traditional issues with a paste wax. This is true, but like any was, the more you let it dry, the tougher it is to remove. But I would highly recommend a clar bar treatment first if your paint feels gritty and the wax comes off cleanly no problem. A pack of terry towels at Target or Walmart is only about $8 and worth it - just use two of them...one for wax removal and one for polishing up to a high shine. When the removal towels gets laden down with excess wax, just swap in a new towel and keep rolling.

Overall, this product goes on more easily and removes more easily than traditional paste was, and provides a much nicer shine. But like others have noted, it still requires the usual amount of work to produce good results. But if you have realistic expectations, this product
